Now here is something that is likely as one of a kind. The fellas over at pre64win.com have showed this off on their facebook page but without any background info yet.
This Frankford Arsenal experimental model 70 was chambered in .276 Pederson. Learned readers will of course recognize that cartridge as the round that the M1 Garand was to be chambered for originally.

Well, it didn’t happen. Too much 30-06 already in stock. We all know how much the federal government hates waste.


I can’t help but wonder why this was made up instead of converting a M1903 Springfield which seems to have been the more common method.
