I became friends with Carl several years ago and last night he shared some pictures with me that he took in Vietnam. Carl was a crew chief in the 20th Special Operations Squadron, AKA ” The Green Hornets”. The green and tan paint patter is a way to immediately recognize a 20th SOS helicopter during the war.

The 20th SOS supported SOG Command & Control South operations into Cambodia. the 20th SOS pilot, James Fleming was awarded the Medal Of Honor for the rescue of a SOG team in Cambodia in 1968, Of course official award said it was in South Vietnam.

Carl manned a M134 mini gun on one of the 20th SOS Hueys and tells me he wasted a shark with it one day while flying over the ocean. I am going to interview Carl in the next few days so hopefully you can look forward to that.
