Walker was one of SOG’s most accomplished recon team leaders. His exploits leading Recon Team California are very well known. One mission with RT California involved the action that lead to Bob Howard being awarded the Medal Of Honor.

I am not very good at words sometimes and I can only say that my dad Joe. J. Walker was the greatest dad and my HERO. He was the great father, husband, grandfather, father-in-law, and stepfather. My dad had Parkinson’s disease and passed away on January 28, 2022. He suffered for a few years and I’m glad he not suffering anymore. I am so happy I was able to see him one last time a month ago. He was so happy to see us and he had a big smile on his face. He has not had that in a while. My dad was called the gladiator, J.J. the terrible, and dirty Joe Walker (I’m afraid to ask how he got that name). It’s such an honor to hear his friends talk about him and his accomplishments in the military and his continued work with the Department of Defense.Dad, you will be missed…
