A couple weeks ago my set of the “JWD” tigers from Moore’s came in. This is an exact repro of the pattern used in the Vietnam war. Probably the most popular tiger pattern variant and certainly the most famous after being word by John Wayne in The Green Berets. The movie is how this version got the name used by some collectors after a book about Tiger Stripe came out. Older collectors refer to it as “classic pattern” or Okinawan Pattern” from the place it was made and sourced by the US and sent to South Vietnam for use by the RVN.

As you can see in the pictures it looks great.

If only Takei was as cool ( and not gay) as his character in The Green Berets.

The pattern is also worn by Willard in Apocalypse Now along with some other patterns. A continuity mess that wardrobe never imagined would cause spurgs to notice decades later.

If you want THE iconic Vietnam war tiger pattern, go over to Trey’s website and get you a pair and hat. This is the single most popular variant of all.

There are cut closer to the BDU style. Not the super tight ARVN type cut.

Have you ever tried Kryptek cam? I’ve been using their Highlander pattern in my AO for ten years or more, and it’s close to an invisibility cloak in the local terrain and flora
