Today’s featured 1911 was carried by then CPT Wade Ishimoto, the SFOD-D Intelligence Officer on the ill fated Operation Eagle Claw on April 24, 1980.

The pistol was personally owned and built by Unit armorers using Colt Gold Cup parts on an Essex frame.

Wade carried the gun in a Bianchi shoulder holster. The holster is on permanent display at the Museum of the U.S. Army, Fort Belvoir, VA.

The pistol is in a private collection.
