Below is a press release but I want to add a little to it. First, I would never personally buy a 1911 from SIG. I like SIG P220 series but that is about it. Next, I want to mention how amused I am over this. I keep seeing Gen Y and Zoomers all over the internet telling me about how outdated the 1911 is and how no one buys them but fudds and boomers who are all dying off. Yet here we are. SIG, a company much beloved by those groups, releasing another 1911. The gun no one wants or uses. Its so outdated, It only shoots 7 rounds!! HAW HAW. and of course that big old heavy weight. Makes me wonder who is in charge at SIG R&D to be so dumb to talk them in to making a new very expensive 1911.

NEWINGTON, N.H., (March 6, 2024) – While the wait seems like a day short of forever, it’s definitely worth it. The best way I know to explain which firearms platforms are the most popular is to look in the Brownells catalog. Brownells allocates pages according to what is the most popular, and the most popular firearms platforms come before less popular.

So, what do we see? AR-15 is first. Second in the Brownells catalog is 1911.

Now, let’s talk for a moment about the firearms knowledge of GenY and Zoomers, since I’ve taught classes in firearms to these age cohorts:

Kids today are knowledgeable about AR-15’s, first and foremost. They might know something about Glocks or other plastic fantastics, and the guys who have been in the military will often know something about the M-9/Model 92 Beretta.

Then some youngsters might be into AK’s and Soviet milsurp stuff, (eg, SKS, or similar). Then they might know a little about their Remington 700 or Savage 10/12 hunting rifle… and maybe a Remington 870.

    And that’s about it.
