Finally 100 percent complete with fresh replacement cargo straps and a strap I was missing, the belly strap that doubles as an extra cargo strap.

The two horizontal back strap/cargo straps are no replaced. The originals one it when I got it had gotten very old and stiff to the point they couldn’t even be adjusted anymore. The bottom original waist strap was missing and a prior user had cobbled together something using the ALICE pack kidney pad. It was dumb. Its all better now and all is right with the world.

The waist strap is now added to it as well. It just slides in behind the waist pad. Apparently few soldiers used it as such and it ended up being used more in its second intended roll. A cargo strap to use around the top of the frame to secure items.

The three vertical cargo straps are now fresh ones. You can see above along with a nice USGI snap link carabiner.

Just for interests is a side view of the pack where extra canteens can be mounted.

You like the pack attached low like that? Back-in-the-day most of us hung them from the top of the frame. In fact, the two I had were issued to me that way.

yes I prefer the low mount so I can use the cargo straps on top for heavier stuff
