The day I have been waiting for arrived. The Beogam ( pronounced bell-gum) uniform from my friends at ARVNuniforms arrived last week. Beogam is the Viet word for Leopard. You can see the conclusion from the spot like pattern of the camo. Another term for this is ” duck hunter” camo. Since it is a pattern used for hunting in the US at the time and for a while after. But there are some differences. I ain’t an expert of beogam camo uniform intricacies so I will leave it at that.

The pattern was used by CISO to make and provide uniforms for early SF advisors in Vietnam who wanted some camo. This was before tiger stripe was more available to US troops. The beogam worked great in the southern delta area of the country, but as you can guess, did piss poor in the jungles.

The pattern is I believe a copy of the one used by CIDG troops with no thigh pockets on the pants.

The Iphone really liked to take the bright sunlight and wash out the picture making the clothing look more bright with a white base. That isn’t the case at all. It has a beige base colors.

This is the first one they have made. The uniforms will be up on the ARVNuniforms.com website and Ebay store next month. The website is currently down for being updated so If you want to see what else they have, go to the ebay store. https://www.ebay.com/usr/arvnuniforms?_pgn=1

You can not beat the quality and price of these if you want a repro. They won’t fool a serious collector but who cares? I use this stuff and it is damned close to the real things. Take a look at the tigers on there and keep a look out for the beogam if you’ve always wanted a set.
