I bought these babies waaaaaaay back in 2001. I had bought a pair of the Corcoran Black Jump boots and when working at a gun store that was also a but of a sporting good store that would sell boots and hunting clothing. I stumbled across the black ones in the catalog of one of the dealers the store used. I loved those black ones and when a friend asked me to order him a pair I got the catalog and saw they had the WW2 brown ones. I was surprised by this. I would have gotten those first at the time I had I know. I got him the black ones and got me the second par in brown.
I paid the princely sum of 80 bucks for them dealer price.. For anyone else they would be $140. Which at the time I thought was a lot. It was back then.
I wore the black ones at work and broke them in pretty quick but not so much the brown ones. I wanted to keep those mint, they looked so good.
Years pass and I have had several boots I horded up over the years and never wore, just recently fall apart from non-use I guess. Dried up. Glue came apart? Who knows. It got me thinking I need to break in those browns!
I got them out and started to wear them every day now for a couple weeks. Boy is it rough, I don’t recall the black ones being so rough. But I was a lot younger 23 years ago and 8 hour days or non stop walking will break in anything fast.
I tried the usual tricks. Putting them on soaking wet. Some nice natural condition oil. Etc, etc. Finally they are soft and supple and broke in.
One thing to point out is that now Corcoran brown jump boots new made in the last several years aren’t the same as they used to be when I bought these.

The “C” on the heel is now long gone. No idea why. That was a feature of them since WW2. Also the quality is not the same as these but the price has went way up. I looked around online and on youtube and saw a lot of complains about the ones made in the last 5 or so years. They fall apart. The construction just isn’t as good and the insoles apparently are trash. I don’t know myself. But it’s what I hear. I can say my black ones have a lot of miles on them. Both of mine are also 100 percent made in the USA. I have no idea if that is still the case.
I do know the price is insane.
Maybe instead of breaking them in I should have put them up on Ebay while they were still unworn.

LAME.
