This guy pulls off one of the best long range field shots I have ever seen in this video. The man is an artist with a long range rifle. Long time readers know I have spent years shooting long range and the best field shot I ever pulled off was on a moving turkey 514 years away. My rifle was a Model 70 target rifle in .243 Winchester with a 14X Nikon target scope. Took the shot prone with bipods. This was back on 2001.
My best field shot was with a single shot Martini that had been rechambered with a very heavy barrel in .225 Winchester, which is a cartridge you don’t hear of much these days…equivalent to a rimmed 22-250, back in the day.
I took a headshot on a stationary kangaroo (about a playing card sized target) at a measured 445 metres (486) yards. The guys I was shooting with couldn’t even see it, because the head was sticking up out of very long grass. They took the piss out of me for several minutes, until we got to the location of the target, and after a minute of beating in the scrub, there it was. Much smugness on my part after that.
