Wilson Combat everything (frame, slide, match grade pipe, magwell, rear sight) customized by Ross Carter out of Harrison Arkansas. Ross was a highly regarded competitive shooter and kept company with virtual legends. Swipe all the way left to see a picture from the 1983 IPSC World Shoot, where he took 4th place. Back row from L–>R is Robby Leatham, John Shaw, Mike Plaxco, and then Ross in the red and white shirt. Front row we see Mike Dalton, Ed Brown, Bill Wilson, Chip McCormick and Ross Seyfried. Legendary gunslingers…and Ross was among them. Suffice it to say he was one of the best shooters of his time, which maybe means all time. Like many professional shooters, he morphed from police officer into full time custom gunsmith. He made guns for other highly regarded shooters like John Pride and John Shaw. He kept company with legends like Jack Wiegand, Bruce Gray, Ned Christiansen, and John Harrison, and he was liked by all. Carter taught countless men who aimed to protect communities and nations how to shoot–including (but not limited) his tenure at John Shaw’s MISS shooting academy, where he trained OAS, SAS, SWAT and SEAL personnel. In 2002 he was involved in a horrible house fire that was likely precipitated by silver soldering a sight by a bucket of primers. He barely survived the fire and lived for a couple years after…likely in a lot of pain. This is the first Carter gun that I have ever handled (or seen for that matter) and I can promise you this –the dude built precision guns engineered to win competitions.
