I love jungle boots. The originals that is. Not the various boots made by modern companies inspired by the Vietnam war boots. Anytime you can get a pair of real USGI contract jungle boots you should buy them. They last forever and unless you need actual cold weather boots, they will do anything. I know some one will chim in the comments about how much they hated theirs. I don’t care. These things have stood the test of time.
This picture is my personal collection with 3 pairs of friend’s. I have managed to convert most of the Kentucky crew boys into buying and using jungle boots. 3 of the 4 pair in the front row belong to them. Two of those pair even have the original vibram sole. They got extremely lucky on ebay to find a nearly new pair of 3rd pattern vibram sole jungle boots in their sizes. I’ve never been able to find an excellent condition pair of vibram sole boots in my size ( 9R) that I was actually willing to pay the asking price for. Apparently 9R is the most common size in the world. Supply and demand takes over from there.
The only pair I own in size 9R with Vibram soles are the paid given to me by Brady. The one’s he wore during the war. Naturally I don’t wear those.
Not pictured are the jungle boots of two other boys. They snagged near mint USGI RO-Search jungle boots from the mid 80s. My every day wearing pair are 88 made. That’s the way to go if you are going to use them. Get a pair from the 80s and wear guilt free!
