Here’s a Colt 70 series chambered in 9mm by JT Timmons out of South Carolina. This is one of my favorite builds for a myriad of reasons, not the least of which is that it’s just unusual. You don’t see many of JTs guns in the wild, which by itself makes it special to me. Now the gun. I wanted something different, so JT and I came up with this vintage/retro build featuring arched MSH, serrated front strap and top. It looks retro but it’s highly engineered and built. Vintage on the outside…all match grade parts on the inside. I believe the car guys call this a “retro mod.” It was originally built with the stock Colt trigger but I recently replaced it because they were just too small for my fingers. The slide to frame and barrel fit are surgical. Shake the gun vigorously, not a sound. Pull the slide —ice gliding on ice. The grip safety disappears into the frame. Gold bead front sight is blended and seemless. Ball cuts, laser straightened lines, and blueing that makes it look like it just got pulled out of a vat of used motor oil. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say this gun is virtually drenched in soul. JT left a part of himself in this build and I feel it every time I pick it up. Grips are of course ivory because what else?
