From 1911_purview

Some months back I saw a 1911 on GB advertised as “made by Detonics gunsmith.” I asked Rainman and he said it’s probably Rich Niemer. So I bought it. It came –I field stripped it “RNJ” on the disco rail. Sure nuff, Richard Niemer Junior. Rick was the head gunsmith at Detonics for years, and after its untimely demise, he headed up Schuetzen Pistolworks, a custom shop within Olympic Arms. He was a world class shooter and top flight pistolsmith. Tim Bacus called Rick a mentor and stated he built guns for almost every top shooter in Western Washington. This Caspian has Heinie sights and a hard fit Nowlin pipe. I treated this old war horse to new chrome and fresh blue. This is the first gun I have ever owned where I didn’t change the grips. I still don’t own a gun where I didn’t change at least one small part. They are my guns–they are going to be the way I want them. Rich was an accomplished musician, he looked like Sam Elliott, and he was liked by virtually everybody who knew him. He passed away at only 63 years old in 2013. Please use lead soap or wipes after shooting. This post is dedicated to his memory.
