For history dorks like me getting a hold of appropriate (key word here) early Vietnam War spot camo has been a real headache. Often called Beogam or leopard camo there are a ton of varieties that existed. Mainly because it was sourced from all over at the time. I might have to do a post on just that rabbit hole by itself.

Now a common mistake is to assume that it is the same as the old commercial camo, since a lot of it was just that. BUT the commercial stuff you find most of the time is in either a different pattern or cut than what is seen in period photos. Thankfully arvnuniforms.com has added them to their already slick line up of period ARVN uniforms.

The uniforms are spot on. The color and pattern look great and the material feels like the real thing. Some might complain that its too thin but that is how they were in real life so ironically its actually a nice touch. And realistically more comfortable in the hot weather.

The measurement are accurate so make sure you tape yourself before firing off a order since these are made to order.

They also make the correct style of “ballcap” with the tie adjustment in the back.

So if you like some obscure yet authentic camo give this guy a look, he’s very reasonably priced and a friend of Shawn’s too. Now go get your Vernon Gillespie on!
