This 80 series Colt in .45 ACP was made by 2001 APG Pistolsmith of the Year John Yanek out of Schnecksville PA. The M1991 is arguably the ugliest Colt ever manufactured, but this one just got a little less ugly, now that the left sided roll marks have been “magic erased” at the centrifugal hands of a surface grinder. Out damned spot! This gun came out of a California based collection, and the same day I bought this gun, my paisan/mentor bought the identical bookend gun in 38 super. We think the idiot who commissioned the set likely picked these particular base guns because they are on the California roster, thus legal to own there. That’s the only explanation for selecting M1991s to build a beautiful set of custom pistols on. These guns have stories–sometimes we know them and most of the time we don’t
