The 15,000 pound BLU-82B bomb was a system used during the Vietnam war. Nicknamed the “Daisy Cutter” because of the pattern it made when clearing jungle. Dropped from a C130, the bomb had a rod that detonated it a few yards from the ground.



The Command Vault project was used by SOG a few times to clear new landing zones for recon teams in Laos. The result was reported to be impressive.


As things were falling apart in ’75, some of those were given to VNAF who dropped one on an NVA division or corps headquarters during the battle for Xuan Loc. Those results were also “reported to be impressive.”
