From 1911_purview

1980 Combat Commander in .45 ACP by Craig Wetstein. Straight out of gunsmithing school, Wetstein was one of the young guns that was building what is arguably the most famous custom 1911 ever manufactured—the famed Pachmayr Combat Special. After that, he left Pachmayr and opened his own shop called “Auto Shop” in Culver City CA. His guns are rare as hens teeth and (to me) very special. It’s just kinda everything a custom 1911 should be—beautiful checkering fore and aft, low mount Bomar, snugged up Colt barrel, squared and checkered trigger guard, welded up (Behlert-esque) finger groove front strap, beavertail, commander hammer— it’s simply exquisite. Special thanks to my friend @kgb_customs for lending this gun his talent by way of a flawlessly executed restoration. Grips are of course made by Craig Spegel, because anything less would be an abomination. To the people who keep contacting me on Instagram and selling these Spegel grips…please don’t stop.
