From 1911 Purview

70 series Colt in .45 ACP by master gunsmith Fred Sadowski. His shop called 300 Gunsmith Service was located in Denver Colorado. This gun features all nickel lower under a beautifully brushed blue slide. Fred passed away in 1987 and his shop apprentice Tim Gerhard (a dear friend of mine) struck a deal with Fred’s wife. Tim was to answer the phones and quietly keep the orders churning, while remaining kind of quiet about Fred dying. He did his best to keep the balls in the air, but after about 3-4 months, customers started realizing that Fred passed away and it was Tim working on the guns. The gig was up as they say. Pound per pound, even back then, Tim was probably a better Gunsmith than Fred, but customers were not happy with an apprentice working on their guns. So Tim packed up his tools and started working for Ikey Starks down the road. Years later, Tim would go out on his own and start TJ’s gunsmithing. Now you’re up to speed on Rocky Mountain 1911 building, and I haven’t even said a word about the best of them–my man Luke Volkmann. This gun is of course shod in Cocobolo grips by Craig Spegel…because anything less would be an abomination.
