1911_purview

Approximately 18 months ago I found this stainless 80 series on the internet. It was made by Tempe AZ gunsmith Daniel Mullins, AKA “GlockMonger” –his handle on multiple shooting forums. I’m not exactly sure why, but it just kinda spoke to me. I didn’t know a single thing about the man, but I gathered from his online posts (and unfortunate obituary tributes) that he was a sardonically funny, bombastic dickhead, who was highly talented and dearly loved by his loyal customer base. So here it is, a seemingly nothing 1911 made by a virtual nobody. BUT to me, it stands firmly on business –riding on piano wire (read Accurails), with gorgeous carry cuts, hand checkered front strap and trigger guard, and an expertly blended beavertail, all capably assembled. The STI trigger was fit by an elderly doctor in his garage…because the heart wants what the heart wants. Is it a high-end 1911? No it is not. So why does it get Spegel grips? Because the man died at 46. So this gun, shod in these grips, with this post, are dedicated to his memory.
