I went hunting again two days ago and killed three, putting me at 94.

That put me so close to my goal of 100 that I had to go again yesterday. With the leaves thinning out and being very dry and crunchy on the ground, it makes it very hard to sneak up on squirrels. Still, I had to go yesterday. I figured I would spend another week inching closer in a painful grind.

I was wrong.

It was long day but I did it. I not only got the daily limit, i hit 100.

That is number 100 which I kept and ate myself.

I am now done for the season. I could keep going, but that is just greed. Season runs until Feb 28th of next year, and I am sure I could get a least 25 more but that just doesn’t feel right. So, me and the Model 31s are calling it good. Anyway, I already used up four and a half boxes of 16 gauge this year. And 16ga is not something easy to find in the best of years.

What a year. My second-best year ever was 50. My third best year was 23 in a a season. The population of sqwacks has exploded recently for some reason.

It was a beautiful cool day in the mountains.
