What a fall season!.
For the first time in my life, I took 100 squirrels this year. Then, I bagged a Gobbler during the fall turkey gun season. What could be a topper for a year like that? A nine point buck during modern gun season.
After hunting every day for a week, I felt like yesterday evening would be lucky after seeing our boy Kyle getting found not guilty. I walked up the mountain using a gas well road. Just as I was about to get to the flat spot halfway up, this buck jumped and ran up the side of the hill in front of me, I threw the MK12 up to my shoulder and tracked the deer. It got about 50 yards from me and turned directly away. As soon as the crosshairs landed on the back of its upper neck, I fired and the buck dropped dead right there. Top of the spine/back of lower skull shot with a Black Hills MK 262 MOD1 round.
A great year of hunting on a great day. Biggest buck I have ever killed.
