For Ten-Millimeter Tuesday, we have a 10mm conversion of a Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 suitable for either pin shooting, USPSA Revolver, or ICORE competition. Mike LaRocca is better known for his street-worthy custom carry guns, but once upon a time in the 1980s, he did build comp guns. Prior to going solo, LaRocca had also worked at Pachmayr, where he was one of the primary builders of the Combat Special.

No. A Model 28 with cosmetic issues, yes, but not a pinned and recessed 27, what the hell is wrong with some people?

In the full-size photos, you can make out the Model 27’s characteristic fine line checkering on the top strap of the frame. The barrel is pinned, but the cylinder is no longer recessed due to the 10mm moonclip conversion.

I agree that a Model 28 would have been a superior base gun, but perhaps the Model 27 in question was already clapped out prior to the conversion.
