TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police said a man is dead after he was hit in the head with an axe on Monday. Yeah, usually that will do it.

Israel Trejo was initially arrested for assault with a deadly weapon after he swung and hit 21-year-old James “Jimmy” Patterson in the head with an axe in downtown Tulsa.

Patterson was sitting on a couch in the apartment eating, according to police. Trejo was standing in the living room holding an axe that police said he was attempting to buy from someone else. You know, that old chestnut. you are at a guys low income apartment trying to have a bite to eat when the fidgeting dude with an axe decides to test it out on your head for no reason.

Police said Patterson and Trejo never spoke to each other, and after a few minutes of holding the axe, Trejo swung the axe and buried it deep inside the Patterson’s head. Splitting headache?

Patterson was taken to a hospital with the axe still in his head. He died Thursday.

Trejo is now arrested for first-degree murder, police said.
