Colt 70 series .45 1911 by regional smith Charlie Thompson out of Toledo Ohio. Karl Beining found this abandoned gem at a local gun show and the hard chromed Bomar and the swaged magwell made it worth the cost of admission for me. Still wearing its original hard chrome, it’s now “cleaned up” a little with a light bead and brush with some new Wilson Combat and Ed Brown controls to give it a more contemporary stance. Shod in old school double diamond Hogue grips, which had to be Dremeled very carefully in order to be geometrically mated to the swaged magwell. I still have a little more wood to relieve, but I’m going slow this time…after ruining a few sets.
