Never seen an adjustable front sight like that…at first I was thinking it would slide forward for more sight radius but the adjustment wheel makes me thing it’s height adjustable with locking set screws? I struggling with why, though. Maybe made it easily adjustable for various target ranges?

So I started poking around and found that it’s a silhouette sight – 4 settings for the different ranges. The set screws allow for independent adjustment of the 4 settings. New to me…

I’ve seen a few S&W 586 guns with the fancy front sight. They’re used like the Aristocrat 3-position sight in PPC matches.

The PPC target has a big downward pointing arrow at the top of the scoring area. Some shooters aim at the 10 ring at short range, but then use a different sight position to aim at the arrow at 50 yards while having fall of shot in the 10 ring. The theory is that the arrow is more defined and provides a better aiming mark than the 10 ring at that range.

I’ve got 3 position sights on 2 of my guns, and tried the arrow thing, but eventually went back to shooting where I want the bullets to go, as God intended.
