Extraction was a nice surprise. The Netflix exclusive was an old fashioned action romp featuring big stunts, elaborate gunplay and explosions aplenty. It was everything a growing boy needed. Back in the dark days of the very start of the pandemic, when they said it was just three weeks to flatten the curve (remember that!), there was something good to watch on TV while we all sat in our homes and let the government scare us over a really bad head cold.

We liked it very much. So did the rest of the world, it seems, as Extraction was the most watched original feature film on Netflix for a long time, and was viewed by over 90 million households in it’s first month on release.
For fans of things that go bang and pew-pew, it was welcome news that the entire gang was coming back to make a sequel. All we know about Extraction 2 is:
“After being presumed dead, mercenary Tyler Rake returns for another high-stakes mission.”
We also know it will have explosions, gunfights and interesting camera work. How? Lucky guess. Here, watch Chris Hemsworth punch some stuff before blowing some other stuff up.

Filming for the sequel was slated to begin in Sydney, Australia in September 2021, but measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic moved production to Prague. On November 29th, 2021, director Sam Hargrave announced that principal photography had begun in Prague, Czech Republic, before Hemsworth announced that he began filming his scenes on December 4th. Further shooting began in Vienna, Austria on January 28, 2022, and lasted until February 14, 2022. Scenes were shot at Donau City in the vicinity of the DC Towers.
Extraction 2 will be released on Netflix on June 16th
Yeah, Extraction was super.
