This was sent in by a very experienced student who had to apply a CAT TQ to save a fellow officer after a double negligent discharge – bump fire! This occurred during an LE qual and while the officer was reholstering. There’s no benefit to “speed reholstering” – check your gear, check your holster, follow the firearm safety rules, live long and prosper.Caliber was .45ACP, projo was JHP. Only arterial bleed was the exit from round #1 – hence why the TQ is placed where it is. Main pain and focus for the patient was the ankle exit from round #2.Learning points: not all blood is arterial blood, properly I.D. wounds using shears to expose. Pain is not always a correct indicator of the worst wound. Gunshot wounds can be complex and don’t always travel in straight lines. Keep your med gear on you or very close by. Don’t speed reholster, there’s no benefit to it.Follow @northamericanrescue2.0 for more life saving content!
