Kentucky’s modern rifle deer season starts 11/11/2023 ( tomorrow) and some young friends are coming in to try to get their first deer. So I will be hunting and mentoring next week. Don’t expect much posting from me next week unless I some how manage to get one Saturday and everyone else gets one on opening weekend. Unlikely in the extreme.

Most of the area has been smoky from forest fires all week. In my experience, nothing runs deer out of their area faster than the smell of fresh fire and smoke. It rained all night and is raining today so the fires are out. Hopefully that will settle them down. I don’t expect and easy time of it this year though.

I will try to toss up a few things later at night if I get home. I’d rather not though, I need a real vacation and want some time with muh fellas. So the point is don’t be surprised if you don’t see anything from me all next week.
