Taken from a Russian telegram on this new 6.02x41mm cartridge:

Russia has created a cartridge with increased penetration for small arms. The Tula Cartridge Factory has patented a cartridge with increased penetration for small arms, which can be used even in a Kalashnikov assault rifle. The purpose is to destroy enemy personnel, including lightly armored vehicles, as follows from the description of the invention in the patent. According to the description, the length of the cartridge is from 55 to 63 mm, the cartridge case is bottle-shaped, and the bullet with an armor-piercing core has an elongated streamlined head. The new intermediate cartridge, developed taking into account this patent, was designated 6.02×41. A series of experiments was carried out: at a firing range of 300 m, the new cartridge penetrated 8 mm and 10 mm A3 steel plates, used for the manufacture of lightly armored vehicle bodies and personal protective equipment in the 100% of cases. At a similar distance with a 10mm plate of 2P grade bulletproof steel, the cartridge was successful in 85% of cases.

Has anyone spotted an AK-12 in combat in Ukraine yet? Maybe my info is dated (I haven’t been following closely), but it seems like a lot of vaunted Russian gear runs exclusively at trade shows.

Yeah, it could be. I’m curious how it compares to 6mm ARC and 6mm Rat. I’ve been shooting a Rat for across-the-course NRA high power for a couple years now and it’s almost like cheating at 600-yards using 105 Berger Hybrids or 107 SMK.
