While looking at some gun pages on instagram, I ran across this gem that is hilarious to me. But not in the way they intended it to be.

Millennials and zoomers have literally become the meme they love to use over the 1911. The M9 is the pistol they grew up with the military having as its standard issue side arm. Unlike the 1911 though I would argue it isn’t that great. It’s just OK. It has a stupid declocker/safety, its DA/SA trigger is retarded, its grip is awfully big for a military full of a wide variety of hand sizes and the issue magazines are notoriously awful.

Watching them make excuses for it in the comments brings me much humor. All are valid reasons but if you were to make those same points over worn out and abused 1911s in the military supply system, they would laugh in your face and say ” tWo wOrLd wArS!”

My biggest beefs with the M9/Model 92 are these:

    1. It uses metric roll pins to hold lots of stuff in the frame and slide. When you’re doing “serious social work” with the M9, you’re supposed to replace these with new ones every time you drift them out.

    2. This requires you have metric roll pin punches, so you need to get those.

    3. The Beretta M9/Model 9x model pistols launch springs and detents all over the place if you’re not careful disassembling it.

The biggest beef I have with the Model 9x is that you need all manner of tools to disassemble/reassemble it. The 1911 needs no tools, if you have an original GI model, with slotted screws. To do a detail strip on a 1911 is relatively easy compared to a M9/Model 92.
