Here is a pretty neat picture. 2 members of the 101st Airborne with captured PAVN weapons, the one on left is the Type56 but the one on right is the Chinese Type 53, a copy of the Russian m44 carbine, That one has a rifle grenade on the muzzle ready to fire. You don’t see that in photos very often.
I often see pics from that era where the guys have the brims of their bush hats cut off. Does anybody know why this was a thing? Seems to me that it defeats the purpose of a hat in a fairly fundamental way.

hear better with those brims cut back. Its very hard to pin point the direction a sound is coming from in the woods when wearing a full brim boonie hat
