The Freedom Arms guns are superb weapons, and massively strong, but they always look a little (or a lot) on the chunky side to me.

You nailed it. I couldn’t quite figure out what it is about them, apart from the size, but I think they could do with a little dehorning on the edges, and maybe remove a little metal.
For example, a strong gun is one thing, but the top strap on that piece would be ok on a .44 Magnum, let alone a .22LR.
