    Here in the southern hemisphere we’re coming out of a long cold winter, the buds on the fruit trees are bursting into flower and we didn’t need to light the fire last night.

    Of course, being Australia, there has to be some dangerous wildlife, so the Magpies have started swooping. Magpies are large birds like black and white crows that become insanely territorial around breeding season, which is just starting. Anything that moves around a magpie nest with eggs or young will be attacked with savage fury. If you don’t hear one coming, it may sink its claws into your hair and tear out a chunk of hair and scalp on the way past.

    And of course, we just have to put up with this shit, because of Green loonies. If I shot one of these things with my air gun I’d probably end up jail.
