From 1911_purview

This is a 1979 Colt long-slide in 45 ACP by Bill North. Photo from 81 at the Fort Harmar range. When I first saw this gun I thought it was Jim Hoag—because that was CLEARLY North’s influence when he built it. Let’s see, machined and welded up slide extension to house 6” Barsto barrel, square checkered trigger guard, low mount Bomar, actual Hoag grip safety, GCNM trigger, Swenson thumb safety, bordered checkering on MSH—all Hoag moves. The disco rail however has WHN engraved on it which is William North, not to be confused with WFN, which is Wayne fucking Novak. The engraving was done by Frank Leaman, otherwise known as Texas Jack. Frank was a prolific gun engraver and gunsmith, who worked predominantly on SAA Colt revolvers. He passed away in 2010 and was known for his “western style” engraving. This gun has a story to tell, which means it has soul, which means I love it. Grips are old tusk because the whole thing just kinda feels like a Western rodeo.
