Colt 80 series 1911 in .45 ACP by former Colt Custom Shop pistolsmith Dave Panicotti. This gun in silvery DLC is shod in Wood Caliber grips. I apologize, but sometimes 80 series guns, no matter how nice, just don’t get Spegels. Supplies are limited. Swipe left to see Dave (left) and his co-worker Mark at Shot Show. I wish this gun wasn’t an 80 series, but I love that it’s built on a Colt —most dudes these days (including Dave) are building on soulless Jems.

That gun is just about my idea of what a perfect 1911 should look like. I’d only want the slide blackened by some sort of durable finish (take your pick, there are several to choose from) and maybe – or maybe not – flat top the slide and use S&W rear sight.

My actual idea of what a perfect 1911 should look like would be one that survived WW-One or Two, Korea or Veet Nom and looks it.
