IMO, the biggest reasons why “influencers” slag on Colt (and Winchester, and older quality firearms that they’ve never, ever heard of in their young lives) is that they’re utterly ignorant about guns.

I don’t mean that they’ve never heard of Colt, Winchester, Savage in rifle, or Parker Bros., A.H. Fox, Lefever, L.C. Smith, etc in shotguns… I mean that they spout nonsense like “cold hammer forged barrels are the best!” or that they cannot understand why a OU or SxS is often superior in upland hunting to a pump or semi. They think the .30-06 is “obsolete,” and that the AR action is capable of tighter groups and more rounds on target at distances than a bolt gun or a falling block.

So you get nonsense like people ragging on Colt’s 1911’s, when they have no idea of the exquisite level of machining and finish delivered by Colt on commercial 1911’s, nor the difference in quality of Colt vs. other AR parts kits, etc.

Marketing departments have wrecked the minds of younger gun buyers into thinking that “mil-spec” is a superior qualification, rather than a floor of quality that Uncle Sam will accept from a lowest-cost bidder.

    It is a sad situation.
