Up next is one of the rarest Bullseye guns in my safe. This WWI era Colt 1911 (manufactured in 1919) was built by Alton H Bunch of AH Gun Service. Marked “AH” on the site, barrel, and bushing, this obscure name connects this pistol to the golden age of American precision pistol shooting–a time when skilled craftsmen hand built match grade guns for serious shooters attending national events like Camp Perry. During the 1950s, surplus military Colts like this were commonly rebuilt into highly specialized scalpels, capable of extraordinary accuracy. There can’t be more than a handful of these AH Bunch guns floating around the wild, but this one has to be the best preserved example on earth.
