Built by Pete Single for Bob Coyle, owner and driving force at Talo who commissioned the Wiley Clapp series from Colt, this is the first time Pete had his logo inlaid in gold. The Maryland master wanted something really special for Bob. It was at Bob’s firm insistence that all the Wiley Clapp guns were checkered by Pete. I’ve been privileged to know a lot of the top 1911 pistolsmiths as personal friends over the years and I’ve picked all of their brains. None are even close to Pete’s level of understanding and knowledge of how a 1911 should be built. George Huening calls him The Professor. Jason Burton publicly acknowledges Pete’s influence on his @heirloomprecision website. Stan Chen and Larry Vickers both credit Pete for helping them.
