From 1911_purview

This two tone 70 series Colt was massaged by Motown pistolsmith Lindsey Owen Alexiou (1936–2012). Lin was the founder of Trapper Gun, Inc, which he established in 1969. Working in the Detroit suburbs, Alexiou became a respected figure during the golden age of American custom pistol smithing. He was was known to radically reshape factory handguns into compact, practical fighting pistols, at a time when manufacturers had nothing like that to offer. His best-known creation was the Trapper Scorpion, produced on Smith & Wesson Model 39s and Colt .45 autos. His .45 Scorpion began as a Colt commander –then shortened to a 3½-inch barrel, extensively reworked for reliability and concealability, stippled, fitted with improved sights and given a durable satin-nickel finish. American Handgunner featured the .45 Scorpion in 1983 and flexed that Alexiou personally subjected his customized pistols to accuracy and reliability testing before they left his shop. Lin wrote Secrets of a Pistolsmith and produced instructional pistolsmithing videos. Massad Ayoob owned and carried one of Alexiou’s shortened Colt Scorpions. His work belongs to an important transitional period in American handgun history, when individual pistolsmiths were creating compact, reliable defensive pistols years before the major manufacturers made such beasts.
