Years ago, I was talking to Pete Single and he was telling me about a gun that he was checkering for a guy named Cooper White. I said “who is that” and he said “oh he’s a good old boy down in Northeast Florida who builds a nice gun.” Well, you can bet I was on the phone 30 minutes later. About one year after that phone conversation this stunning Colt 70 series in .45 ACP shows up. Cooper White, out of a Jacksonville shop called Kuper Precision, is a veteran law-enforcement professional and firearms instructor, with decades of experience in firearms and security. During his tenure with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, he developed a passion (and an aptitude) for gunsmithing, honing his skills under the guidance of a guy named Bruce Gray. Yup that Bruce Gray. This beautiful gun came with Vz grips with custom medallions. I of course have already migrated to Spegel Grips because the gun deserves no less. I will surgically remove the medallions and inlay them into the Spegels very soon. Why must they always be Spegels? Because we are not animals and the heart wants what the heart wants. Swipe all the way left and you will understand why today’s music had to be Steely Dan.
