Not the falling block!?!?!?! I love that rifle, and I don’t even own one yet!

WTF? The GP100 revolvers and No 1 rifles are going? And the Hawkeye and M77 rifles?

That doesn’t seem like trimming fat, it’s trimming bone and muscle.

What? They had over $100 million in cash and short-term investments when they announced at the end of June. Their stock is up today, well ahead of the S&P.

This looks to me like they are trimming labor-intensive low-volume product lines either just to improve overall profitability or to make room for more products, or most likely some of both.

i have no idea what they are doing, killing off their traditional/sporting guns seems insane to me.

I think they will be fine as a business, even if they are slaughtering a few sacred cows here. Notably, the Marlin revival is untouched by this, and the American Gen II rifle is also untouched. Ruger said recently that they wanted to introduce more American Gen II configurations but are capacity-constrained, so we may see a few more varieties of those.

They also aren’t touching hardly any of their semiautomatic pistols.

They say in their statement that some of this stuff will be back, possibly in modified form. I have a hard time believing that Ruger just won’t make double-action revolvers anymore, but they may make some production changes to them.

I doubt they sold enough M77s or Hawkeyes or No.1s to matter much to the bottom line.

I guess we will all find out together. I don’t know anyone who buys anything from them these days myself

I’m looking around the internet for a new 6.5 Swede, and found an almost new Ruger. It looked pretty sweet, but I just couldn’t do it. I’ve heard too many “My great looking Ruger won’t shoot” stories.

I need something really accurate, so Tikka and Sauer are currently at the top of the list.

I bought and tried rugers all through the late 90s up into about 2005. mainly target rifles but also their copy of the peacemaker and three different Number 1s. None of them shot worth a shit except a No/ 1 in 218 bee. thats why you never see me talk about them here

I’m very happy with my 10/22s and my LCR. The American rifle isn’t my cup of tea, but they seem to sell them by the job lot, and I wouldn’t steer someone away from it if they’re looking for a cheap rifle.

I wish I’d picked up an LCP in .22LR. They seem to be out of production at the moment.

Anyway I like Ruger and many of their products. I wish them well. I hope to see some of these discontinued products come back, though some I won’t miss.
