This is a golden oldie from the old site I recovered over the weekend. So, any link is probably long dead. The gun isn’t even sold on the commercial market anymore unless you get one on the secondary market. I repost it only for interest and historical purposes. After taking a look at the partsContinue reading “Colt 6940 Piston Carbine Accuracy Test”

The Model 70 Laredo
Back in the early 90s, Winchester started making an action that very closely resembled the classic much loved, pre 64 Model 70 action of legend. This was an immediate hit with riflemen with taste. There was some differences between the new and old, but it was close enough. Some would say it was probably better,Continue reading “The Model 70 Laredo”
More On Colt Monolithic Upper History
Four years ago I did the “10 years of the Colt 6940” post and then a few days after realized I had left out some pretty neat stuff from the history of the Colt monolithic uppers. Over the last 10 years there was some other monolithic upper rifles and carbines from colt in some variantsContinue reading “More On Colt Monolithic Upper History”
North Hollywood Shootout
A few years ago, I ran across this image . It is a display of the weapons and gear the two bank robbers from the North Hollywood shoot out used. It is interesting to think back on how things changed because of this. I remember a lot of talk after it about how theContinue reading “North Hollywood Shootout”

Unertl Team Spotting Scopes
Among the rifle scopes and tubes sights made by Unertl, they also made super spotting scopes of various sizes. Not often seen on the market because most of them are still being used by various private shooters, clubs and military shooting teams.
Unertl Military Spotting Scope
My friend, Canvas & Cosmoline on instagram has been collecting military spotting scopes for a few weeks and has turned up this Unertl 20X spotting scope. Which, if you want he has put up on ebay.
Extended BAR Mags
Modern 30 round mags and period AA 40 round mags. Either would have been good for movement to contact, the assault or static defense from barricade.
Unertl Refurbishing
Elwood P Suggins shows people in the Unertl collectors group how to replace your crosshairs. He later said he uses dental floss. Not my choice, I prefer the tungsten wire. Just finished sprucing up a Unertl 4X Small Game Scope for a friend. Installed a new 0.0006″ reticle, greased the turrets and repainted the graduationsContinue reading “Unertl Refurbishing”
