This is an example of US Issue Dextro Amphetamine tablets, these were issued by SOG recon teams to stay awake on extended missions where sleep was not an option. They were a controlled item and handed back at the end of the mission. The tablets have been replaced in this example with dummy items. OftenContinue reading “US Issue DextroAmphetamine Tablets”

SOG XM21 Sniper
A rare photo of a SOG recon team member with the XM21 sniper rifle. Operating in the Daniel Boone AO (Cambodia) the sniper rifle was more feasible due to the more open terrain. A few other items to note are the WW2 leggings, the V40 mini grenades beside the rifle and the tropical rucksack.
Brady’s Boonie Hat & Tiger Stripes
One of things Brady showed me the other day is the boonie hat he wore in Vietnam. Brady’s Issued Jungle Boots From Vietnam
Last week I was at Brady’s and he sent these home with me. There are the jungle boots he was issued in 1969 and wore the rest of his 18 months in Vietnam. Some MACVSOG History
Here is a pretty neat bit of US Special Forces history. One of my friend’s on FB that is a MACVSOG vet shared this the other day. It is an encryption pad for use over the radio while on missions. From what I understand, 3 letter combinations were substituted for words or phrases commonly usedContinue reading “Some MACVSOG History”
WW2 Japanese Canteen With Trench Art and Campaign Markings By US Marine
This is a very interesting bit of history I thought would be worth sharing. It is a canteen taken from a fallen Japanese soldier during WW2. My friend’s father in law was a Marine during the war in the 1st Division I believe it was. At any rate. He kept it from the soldier heContinue reading “WW2 Japanese Canteen With Trench Art and Campaign Markings By US Marine”
The Return Of Industrial Warfare
Authored by Alex Vershinin via the Royal United Services Institute, Can the West still provide the arsenal of democracy? The war in Ukraine has proven that the age of industrial warfare is still here. The massive consumption of equipment, vehicles and ammunition requires a large-scale industrial base for resupply – quantity still has a qualityContinue reading “The Return Of Industrial Warfare”
